Kenmore washer is stuck on a cycle, or maybe it doesn’t finish the cycle. Sounds familiar?
You’ve separated your whites and darks, measure out the right amount of detergent. Put the clothes in and start your regular cycle. Your Kenmore washer fills up and nothing is happening. The clothes are just sitting in a tub full of water and it won’t advance to other cycles. Or it can be that the washer went through the wash cycle but now won’t rinse and /or spin your close.
There may come a day when your washer gives up or breaks down. The washer doesn’t finish the cycle.

The main function of the drain pump is to empty the tub during the wash cycle. When the washer is full, you may hear a humming noise that may indicate a failing pump. When the drain pump is damaged, the washer will not advance into the next cycle. Often times the drain pump propeller can shear off, and even though the pump is running, no water is being pumped out. If you want to inspect the drain yourself, you will need to unplug your washer, access the pump, and then inspect all the hoses for any kind of leaks and damages.
Remember to check the filter regularly for any possible build-up. Cleaning your filter regularly will also prolong the life of your washing machine.

The main function of the timer is to control all the components in the washer. As the timer rotates, it energizes different contacts, which in turn energize different components of the washer.
These parts need to be replaced if the timer motor does not advance or the contacts are defective. If you can use a multimeter, you may check the timer for continuity.

To perform the complete wash cycle, the washer needs to reach the correct program temperature. If the heating element is faulty, it can prevent the washer from advancing because it is waiting for the temperature to satisfy. Before blaming the heater, first, check if there is any visible damage. Otherwise, you might need a multimeter for testing the resistance. The heater has failed, if the resistance is far higher than 20-30 Ohms or gives no reading at all. Generally, a heater can short or open. If the heater is showing no resistance or continuity, it means it’s open and is not passing electricity. Vice versa, if the heating element is showing continuity to the ground, it is shorted.
